Participatory IT (PIT) and the Centre for Advanced Visualization and Interaction (CAVI) are combined research and production centres at Aarhus University, Denmark.

Developed between the departments of Aesthetics and Communication and Computer Science, the interdisciplinary research centre PIT takes the Scandinavian participatory design tradition as a point of departure, and asks what participation currently means when it appears to have been integrated into all aspects of people’s lives. Jointly with PIT, CAVI has worked within the domain of media architecture and artistic strategies for civic communication and better understanding of public space. For Human Futures, we hope to develop our interests in wireless networks and the tensions between corporate-owned telecommunications infrastructures and community-owned networks.
